WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS
Punching Level 1: This workshop will focus on the proper form and structure for throwing a jab, cross and hook punch. It is suitable for all Martial Art styles. We will learn how to maximize power by keeping our rear foot planted and how to open our hips to protect our knees. We will also focus on proper defensive body alignment.
Punching Level 2: This workshop expands upon the concepts of level 1 and also adds the uppercut. We will then explore combinations; as well as, punching with the rear foot stepping and punching with spinal whipping.
Qigong 1: In this workshop, we will explore the theory of Qi and its relationship to and movement within our bodies. We will also learn proper Diaphragmatic/Buddhist breathing and the standing, sitting and lying down postures necessary to facilitate Qigong. We will also learn the basic Do's and Don'ts of Qigong.
Qigong 2: This workshop will go deeper into Qigong practices and includes Daoist/reverse breathing, breathing with long breaths, how to vary the rhythm of our breathing and the microcosmic orbit.
Qigong 3: In this workshop, we will delve into some of the more esoteric breathing practices: Skin breathing, Kidney breathing and Bone breathing. We will also perform the macrocosmic orbit.
The Waist & Power: We will learn how to generate power in many different ways by varying the sequence in which we turn each side of our waist as well as, when each action is more appropriate than the others. We will explore the structural advantages and disadvantages of each action and how to use these skills in various drills to build speed and power.
